



The Governor Richard J. Oglesby Mansion and Museum, located at 421 West William Street in Decatur will be offering a pop-up history presentation on Saturday, April 25 at 2pm. The event will take place in the parlor inside the mansion. Suggested donation is $5 per adult and $2 for children.
Dr. Devon Hunter will be the presenter for this unique event. He is an Associate Professor of History at UIS and currently serves as Chair of the Department. The program topic is: The 1893 World’s Fair and the Lynching that Shocked the Globe.
“We are always happy to embrace opportunities to share stories of the era of Governor Oglesby and his family,” said Oglesby Mansion Board President Dave Davis. “This is a fantastic opportunity to stop in and learn about a World event that captured the attention of our country and Illinois. We are grateful for the opportunities to tell these stories, especially during the anniversary of the 250th year of our country,” Davis continued.
